Canadian Coast Guard’s honorary captain
The Canadian Coast Guard’s honorary captains are an important link between us and the communities we serve. They act as our ambassadors, helping to strengthen our relationships and celebrate the work we do.
Role of honorary captain
The Commissioner of the Canadian Coast Guard appoints honorary captains. A celebrated Canadian is selected for this role. Their unique set of skills, values, and goals exemplifies our own commitment to serving Canadians.
Our honorary captains help foster morale and support recruitment by:
- building and maintaining our relationships with local communities
- visiting bases and vessels to meet with our personnel
- taking part in our operations and activities
- supporting our values and mandate
They continue the legacy of excellence in service from coast to coast to coast. This makes an important impact in the lives of Canadians.
