- the construction and use of:

- overhauling small diesel engines
- machinery components found aboard ships
- how to safely lift, secure and rig lifting equipment on board a vessel in machinery spaces
- theory and practical aspects of the construction of special lifting slings and other apparatus
- correct selection and proper use of tackle used for lifting cargo and equipment aboard vessels
