Description
An introduction to the basic principles of physics. The course includes laboratory experiments and teaches officer cadets the scientific approach to problem solving. Topics covered in this course include:
- hydrostatics
- vector mechanics
- units and measurement
- Newton's laws of motion
- the principle of work and energy
- kinematics and dynamics of rotational motion
Officer cadets will also develop competency in:
- vector and scalar quantities
- free-body diagram illustration
- the basic principles of mechanics and hydrostatics:
- kinematics
- applying translational kinetics
- vector representation of forces
- buoyancy and Archimedes' principle
