This course includes principles and applications of electrotechnology in marine engineering. This course consists of:

  • AC and DC motors and:
    • their construction
    • their characteristics
    • how to control them
  • electric propulsion systems
  • electrical auxiliaries, such as:
    • lighting
    • batteries
    • deck machinery
  • electrical machinery and how to:
    • troubleshoot issues
    • repair and maintain them
  • ground detection and fault protection
