The Coast Guard Pacific fleet includes a number of multi-tasked vessels, carrying out search and rescue, marine navigation services, conservation and protection, fisheries management and ocean science responsibilities. The fleet ranges in size from 83 metres to small fast response craft. The largest ships in the fleet are equipped with lifting gear and cargo holds for the heavier buoy-tending work, helicopter deck and gantry/winches for the launch and recovery of underwater research equipment and submersibles. Helicopters operate out of Victoria and Prince Rupert in support of the program, transporting personnel and supplies to remote sites and lightstations.
