Community Connections

The Wellness Center at the Canadian Coast Guard College (CCGC) is very much a community facility. While primarily utilized by Officer Cadets and staff of the College, many groups within the community take advantage of the pool, squash court, gym and fitness room.

Gym & Swim is a partnership between the CCGC, Cape Breton University (CBU) and the YMCA. They have devised this program for children with disabilities. Every Saturday during the academic year, students from both the CCGC and CBU volunteer their time with lifeguards from the YMCA to provide two hours of specialized fun and fitness.

The local YMCA summer camps are based out of the Wellness Centre. Many schools also use the facilities at the Centre for day trips, and various seniors' programs also use the Centre on a weekly basis.

The comprehensive Wellness Centre is a key component to groups interested in hosting Conferences at the Coast Guard College.
