Education Requirements

An applicant’s complete academic record, including secondary school as well as all post-secondary studies (for example, college, university, or other post-secondary institutions) will be reviewed and considered as part of the competitive selection process.

Applicants must complete by June 30:

  • 1 year of CEGEP in Québec with successful completion of 12 semestered, academic courses (preferably in Nature Science program) (high school diploma and official final transcript must be provided); or
  • Grade 12 in all other provinces and territories.  Studies must be at the pre-university level suitable for a degree in Science, Engineering or most technologies.
  • For any diploma abroad, you must provide the Canadian academic credentials equivalencies.
  • High school applicants must provide Official Trancripts for all Grade 11 and Grade 12 courses completed, along with all available mid-year grades for courses in progress.  All required courses must be completed and transcripts provided by June 30.
  • University or College credit courses may be accepted as equivalencies to the required high school courses.

Please note that the Canadian Coast Guard College reserves the right to be the final arbiter of what it will accept on an equivalency basis.

 

Course Requirements by Province and Territory

English/French Language Course:  All applicants must complete a Grade 12 Language course at the academic/university preparatory level in their official language (French or English).

 

Math/Physics Courses:  Applicants must complete university preparatory Math and Physics courses as outlined below.

 

Chemistry CourseRequired for Marine Engineering Only.  Applicants to the Marine Engineering program must also complete a Chemistry course as outlined below.
