Officer Cadet Benefits

As a world leader in the field of Maritime Studies, the Canadian Coast Guard College demonstrates excellence with the Officer Training Program (OTP), which is exciting and comprehensive. The exploration of Canada's waterways while working for the Canadian Coast Guard is both an honor and a responsibility. The acceptance OTP offers the following advantages:

  • Tuition, texbooks, uniforms, training courses, room and board;
  • Bachelor of Technology in Nautical Sciences from the Cape Breton University (CBU)
  • Monthly allowance for personal expenses in accordance with Treasury Board Ships' Officers (Appendix E)
  • Incremental vacation and pension, medical and dental plan, family health plan
  • automatic protection through the Dental Care Plan (DCP) and the Public Service Act Workers' Compensation
  • Up to three (3) weeks of summer vacation, subject to the requirements of the training program
  • A commercial ticket recognized by Transport Canada as a ship's officer
