Inshore Rescue Boat Training and Season Operations Dates

Through the Inshore Rescue Boast Service Student Program, the Canadian Coast Guard hires and trains students each summer to become members of an Inshore Rescue Boat Crew. Topics such as boat handling and seamanship, local coastal navigation, search and rescue operations (search techniques, communications, etc.) and more are covered.

16 days training period (students are paid during the training period)

Season lenghts is 16 weeks (dates may vary depending on the region) see below.
  • Working schedule is a fourteen day cycle - two weeks on, followed by two weeks off (46.6 hour averaging work system). Visit the following Treasury Board link: Annex D - 46.6 Hour Averaging Work System and refer to section 7 for more information.

Note:

Further details regarding pay during the training period and work conditions, meals and accommodations will be provided by regional Canadian Coast Guard staff.
