Our Mission

The Maritime Security Branch leverages and builds on DFO capabilities and expertise to effect value-added solutions for maritime security partner agencies and to influence DFO capacity-building in order to fulfill the Minister’s obligation to support the federal government’s security priorities.

Its responsibilities include:

• developing related departmental governance frameworks and delivery mechanisms, which may include management of activities;
• monitoring, validating and reporting on on-going Public Security Initiatives and funding; and
• representing DFO’s maritime security contribution nationally and internationally in order to understand issues and influence outcomes.
