Logistics Officer 

From coordinating all housekeeping and catering services to administering the ship’s financial resources, your responsibility as a Logistics Officer lies in the support you provide to all shipboard personnel. You may be assigned to work in the areas of hotel services and ship’s administration, as well as managing staff, materiel, and finances. This includes hands-on experience in techniques and practices of accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost/benefit and risk analysis to ensure the accurate representation of financial data in financial statements and reports. 

We are also proud to offer competitive salaries and benefits; immediately upon admission to the CCG College, Officer-Cadets receive a monthly allowance and their pensionable years begin. Once graduated, officers are guaranteed employment. Salary starts at $41,000, and goes up to $100,000 at the highest level.

Logistics Officer Certification Program:

To become a Logistics Officer, candidates must obtain their CCG Fleet Logistics Certificate of Competency. Frequently, Logistics Officers are hired internally. Often, an employee will start as a Steward or Storekeeper and will work his/her way up to a Logistics Officer position. 

There are two classes:

  1. CCG Certificate of Competency, Logistics Second Class

    This certificate requires:
     
    • Successful completion of the written examination;
    • 36 months of recent logistics-related training and/or experience acquired in a recognized institute and/or organization; or, 24 months of logistics related experience of which at least 12 months have been acquired aboard a CCG ship in the Logistics Department;
    • Marine Emergency Certificate;
    • Valid Medical Certificate, as per organizational requirements; and,
    • A pass mark in the oral examination.

  2. CCG Certificate of Competency, Logistics First Class

    This certificate requires:
     
    • Successful completion of the written examination;
    • Fully satisfactory performance as a Logistics or Supply Officer or supernumerary Logistics or Supply Officer, or Logistics Trainee, aboard CCG ships for a minimum period of 12 months while in possession of a CCG Certificate of Competency, Logistics Second Class; and
    • A pass mark in the oral examination.

 

The complete examination covers the four logistics functions:

  • Materiel Management
  • Hotel Services
  • Financial Management
  • Ship's Administration

Pre-requisites for Logistics Officer
