Fine Silver Coin from the Royal Canadian Mint for the 50th Anniversary of the Canadian Coast Guard

The Royal Canadian Mint is paying tribute to the thousands of courageous men and women who have served, and who continue to serve Canada both at sea and on shore, by issuing a 99.99 per cent fine silver coin featuring our flagship icebreaker CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent hard at work in the frozen waters of the Canadian Arctic.

Each coin will be accompanied by a vial containing a small piece of steel from the bow of the CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent taken during a recent refit. This precious coin will goes on sale July 16. Limited to a world-wide mintage of only 7,500 coins, the coin retails for $129.95 CAD and can be ordered directly by contacting the Royal Canadian Mint at 1-800-267-1871 or on the Internet at www.mint.ca. It will also be available through the Mint’s boutiques in Ottawa, Winnipeg and Vancouver, as well as through the Mint’s global network of dealers and distributors, including participating Canada Post outlets.

25-Cent Coloured Coin for the 50th Anniversary of the Canadian Coast Guard

The Royal Canadian Mint has also produced a 25-cent coloured coin celebrating our 50th Anniversary that will be available in September. This coin can be pre-ordered now by visiting www.mint.ca. It will retail for $24.95.
