For the Canadian Coast Guard’s (CCG) 50th anniversary year, the Bank of Canada honoured the Canadian Coast Guard by depicting the CCGS Amundsen in Canada’s North on its new $50 polymer bank note to reflect Canada’s commitment to Arctic research and the development and protection of northern communities.
The notes contain a number of unique features that expand the frontiers of bank note security and make them difficult to counterfeit but easy to check. The note is now available to the general public as of March 26, 2012.
