Operational Services is responsible for managing the operation and positioning of vessels and aircraft to support the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG), and Fisheries and Oceans Canada's (DFO's) Science and Fisheries and Aquaculture Management programs.

The 17 vessels in the Newfoundland and Labrador Region deliver a wide range of services including maritime safety, support of maritime commerce and protecting the marine environment. The ships and their crews work with their DFO colleagues to manage and protect fisheries resources and support scientific research. They also provide specialized maritime expertise and on-water support to other government departments.
The following CCG ships were in operation in the Newfoundland and Labrador Region:
CCGS: Canadian Coast Guard Ship
CCGC: Canadian Coast Guard Cutter
The region also operates four helicopters at peak periods.
The Regional Operations Centre, located at the CCG Southside Base in St. John's, is the focal point for initiating and co-ordinating requests for Coast Guard operational services.

The centre is staffed 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week by professionally-trained men and women with a large variety of marine expertise, who work as a team toward a common goal to consistently deliver excellent service to clients.
