The Canadian Coast Guard’s (CCG) Business Plan covers the 2008 to 2011 planning period. It has two purposes:
In the first section you will find information on our mandate, mission, and motto; the results we seek to achieve; our clients; and our history. It also summarizes the linkages among our activities and those of other government departments.
Section two summarizes the key risks and strategic challenges CCG faces. Our priorities and key initiatives are in large part, the CCG’s response to dealing with these internal and external influences, and they form the basis of a number of our key commitments over the next three years.
CCG has five priorities which are discussed in detail in this section along with how we plan to address each of these priorities over the next three years.
Sections 3 and 4 form the bulk of the Business Plan. Section 4 discusses CCG’s commitments regarding its ongoing services in relation to its Program Activity Architecture (PAA) sub-activities. The PAA is a complete inventory of all the program and service activities undertaken by a department or agency. It reflects a logic model of how organizations are structured and manage their accountabilities for expenditure of public monies.
In the final section CCG’s financial situation is described and supporting financial tables are presented. The focus is on the progress made in strengthening our financial management practices, the funding provided in recent federal budgets, our capacity to meet growing demands for our services and an overview of our assets and liabilities.
Following the last section there are four annexes which describe the CCG’s workforce, provide detailed information on its capital expenditures, present the Program Activity Architecture, and offer cross-references from CCG’s 2008/2009 commitments to the Auditor General’s 2000 and 2002 recommendations.
