Officer Cadet Training Expectations

At all times Officer Cadets are expected to:

  • Perform, to the best of his/her ability in all course study, tasks and assignments of the training program
  • Attend all classes
  • Take special courses or programs at the College or exterior to the College as assigned, such as Marine Emergency Duties training
  • Follow tasks and progress goals outlined in the Course of Studies and the Officer Cadet Standing Orders
  • Assist at special functions, such as graduation and civic events as assigned by the Liaison Officer
  • At sea, an Officer Cadet shall competently apply himself/herself to the course tasks and assignments as assigned by the Commanding Officer/Chief Officer or Chief Engineer/Senior Engineer
  • Complete all tasks, research and requirements as outlined in the Sea Training Manual
  • Attend special events or do special assignments during or outside normal hours as required for training purposes
  • Stand duty watches at the College, as assigned
  • Perform the duties of Class Leader or Officer Cadet Leader, as assigned
  • Maintain a high standard of fitness, ethics, orderliness and dress
  • The OTP aims to nurture and develop men and women to become competent Officers in the Canadian Coast Guard with a high sense of devotion to duty, loyalty, obedience, trustworthiness, leadership, self-respect, and independence of character.
