Additional Information

Vessel Accomplishments: 

Biographical Information: Stanley Dudka (1923 - 2008) joined the North Nova Scotia Highlanders at the age of 16. He landed on Juno Beach on June 6, 1944 during the Battle of Normandy and was wonded and captured by the Germans on June 7. While a prisoner, Dudka witnessed the murder of other Canadian Solsiers by the Waffen SS and later testified at their trial. He made three attempts to escape before finally succeeding and made his way back to his regiment. Dudka was awarded the Military Medal by King George V. He later became a distinguished Fisheries Officer.
